Point Commercial attended the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Idea Exchange in Tulsa, OK on September 23-24. The meeting brought together national and regional retailers to discuss potential expansion throughout the region. Point Commercial has been active in the region and hopes to continue working with existing and exciting new concepts.

This year’s conference boasted the highest attendance in several years, signaling the return of
positive growth of retailing and real estate. You probably got a tweet or saw Facebook post about it, because social media was also a hot topic. May 20-22, 2013. In a sign of continuing economic recovery, attendance this year is set to be the highest it has been since before the recession. Nearly 28,000 delegates are signed up now, and several thousand more are expected to register on-site when the convention kicks off on May 19. Last year about 32,000 attended, some 4,000 of whom registered at the convention’s start. Attendance is expected to exceed 33,000 this year.
In another indication of better times, some 1,000 companies will be exhibiting at the Las Vegas Convention Center. “The Leasing Mall is completely sold out,” said Malachy Kavanagh, ICSC’s senior staff vice president, communications. “In fact, there are 127 more companies exhibiting in the Leasing Mall this year than last year.”

Point Commercial Named by the Kansas City Business Journal as One of the “Most Active Commercial Real Estate Firms in Kansas City”. Point was ranked as the 24th most active company in 2012.
ACE Hardware recently opened a new location inPurcell, OK, which is located just south of Oklahoma City, OK along Interstate 35. As a “preferred” real estate partner with ACE, Point Commercial played an integral role in location research and site selection for the new store. Alan and Lisa Eubanks opened the 12,000 sq. ft. free standing store right before the 2012 Holiday Season. “We were extremely happy to establish a presence in an underserved market for convenience hardware”, said Robert Cochenour, Market Manager for ACE Hardware. Point Commercial brokers hold licenses in Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas, plus have strong relationships and referral networks throughout the country.
Rasmussen College recently hosted a ground breaking ceremony for its new campus on Governor View Road in Topeka. Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and Rasmussen College CEO Tom Slagle were in attendance. Point Commercial negotiated the purchase of the land for the future 15,000 sq. ft facility, plus the lease of another campus in Overland Park at Quivira and College Blvd. Both locations are scheduled to begin classes in spring 2013.
